How do I know I'm in Ketosis?
Good question. Being a data-driven person, well you know my answer by now -- test for them, right? Below are the two main things we use to check our ketone levels. The Keto-Care strips check for Acetoacetic acid and the test unit checks your blood for Beta-hydroxybutyrate. The Ketone test strips are pretty expensive though, anywhere from $1.99-4.99 each, so if you tested every day for a month, you'd be into some serious numbers. Maybe forego the triple-latte every day you test. Here is the best source I found for the test strips, Universal Drugstore. Why use both you might ask? Well, it's quite cheap to do the urine strips and it is a good gauge to find out if you're in ketosis or not. The issue is as you adapt to ketosis, your kidneys begin to filter out the ketones so less show up on the testers. Blood tests are the best and most accurate.
